ADVANTAGES OF USING SWELLSEAL® MS/HP BENTONITE GEOTEXTILE MEMBRANE:

  1. SwellSeal® MS/HP Bentonite Clay immediately hydrates when in contact with water. When unconfined, it will ‘free – swell’ some 15 times it’s own dry volume. When confined, (either underslab or backfilled against) hydrated Bentonite Clay makes it impossible for water to penetrate the concrete.
  2. SwellSeal® MS/HP is manufactured using two layers of high strength geotextile, ‘wet needle – punched’ through a layer of 5.500kg/m2 Sodium Bentonite. This creates a very high performing, robust Bentonite Geotextile membrane.
  3. SwellSeal® MS/HP (Multi-System/ High Pressure) is ideal for situations where high hydrostatic conditions or chemicals are a consideration. SwellSeal MS/HP is also an excellent choice when extremely low vapour transmission is a requirement.
  4. SwellSeal® MS/HP is suitable for use in fresh, saline or contaminated water conditions.
  5. SwellSeal® MS/HP Bentonite Geotextile is ‘self –healing’ due to the swelling nature of the Bentonite clay. This means it can self-mend small holes - around 10mm, and be mechanically fixed to timber, concrete or clay.
  6. SwellSeal® MS/HP unique durability properties allow it to be laid or attached in any weather conditions.
  7. SwellSeal® MS/HP does not require site concrete or a ‘mud-slab’. It can be laid directly over a properly prepared sub-base.
  8. SwellSeal® MS/HP joins underslab are simply over lapped 100mm with a bead of SwellSeal Bentonite granules between the laps. A similar procedure is also used on walls.
  9. Where property-line issues restrict the room behind the panel for fixing SwellSeal® MS/HP, it can be laid in the pre-cast panel beds and delivered to site already bonded to the panel. The joints between the panels are then detailed from the inside.
